On First of May it was again time for a trip of an automobile club called Helsingin Seudun Automobiiliklubi HAK ry to my hometown Porvoo. Of course I decided to be there in time for admiring beautiful vehicles and snapping photos.
Please note that the pictures are looking better if you click the pictures open (without that zigzag thing that can be seen in grilles and other thin metallic parts). Please note that these are low res, mobile phone pics.
Helsingin Seudun Automobiiliklubi HAK ry organizes an annual trip to Porvoo on the First of May and like last year, it was a sunny day. I spotted several cars that I photographed last year, too (see my photo story here), and lots of “new” ones. This is how one of the streets near the small square (that was preserved for the guests) looked like. For example the one closest to me, Borgward Isabella, visited here last year, too.
And there it goes…
I am not a car expert, far away from that. Because this was not a car show, there were no info about the vehicles, even though some car owners had put some information about their vehicles. This was a gathering, having fun together. I hope there are not any misleading or incorrect info here in my article. If you find mistakes in captions or in the text, please let me know. I would be also grateful for more info about some car models, as I was not able to recognize every vehicle I had photographed, not even with the help of internet.
I photographed the cars at the streets but also in that small square, even though it was a bit crowded there. In the first shot there are Wartburg and Fiat (unfortunately that’s all I can say, please notice that the picture looks better, if clicked big, the grill of the Fiat doesn’t look that “messy” if it’s clicked open).
And here are Cadillac DeVille Convertible (1964) and Oldsmobile Super 88 Holiday Coupe (1957).
Two more images of that same Cadillac:
And a couple of shots of Oldsmobile Super 88 Holiday Coupe that I photographed also last year.
I continue with Oldsmobiles. I photographed two Oldsmobile 88 from 1958.
And this one I also photographed last year:
Behind the Oldsmobile there are two black vehicles; a 1949 Cadillac Series 61 Sedanette, I believe, and Buick LeSabre from 1967. Here are first some shots of Cadillac from the year 1949.
And then a couple of shots of Buick LeSabre (1967, I believe):
And more Buick shots… This one is a bit older Buick LeSabre (1959) and she visited Porvoo last year, too, and I got some better shots of her back then (go to check here).
The next two photos shows Buick Riviera from early sixties, I believe. The sun was shining from a wrong direction regarding photographing the vehicle, so hopefully the colours are not totally wrong in the second photo.
I photographed the following Buick Electra also last year. I am not quite sure about the model, but could be 1969.
And then something else… For some reason this one reminds me of Art Deco streamlined loco, with beautiful decoration, which according to some older pictures has been altered later. (Sorry about the colour problems, the colours were a bit distorted and it was difficult to get them at least near the colour of the car.)
And here she comes again…
And she comes closer… “Sledanette”?
I needed to dig a bit. The car is or should I say “was” 1949 Buick Roadmaster Sedanette, but it’s restyled totally with parts from here and there and it’s known as “Sledanette”. According to the owner “the only parts left untouched on the car is the fender skirts and rear bumper”. If you want to know more, please click this. To my mind the result is nicer than the sad looking Buick Roadmaster.
I will stick in these a bit older vehicles. First Chrysler Saratoga from the early fifties.
And then Packard Clipper from the forties. I am not quite sure about the model, so I decided not to start guessing.
The next three photos shows Citroën Traction Avant.
And this one below is Ford Fairlane 500, 1959 model I believe:
And then some details…

And here are two shots of the fender top ornament (I couldn’t choose which one to publish…). Please click the image to see it bigger.

This one is Plymouth Road Runner, 1970 model I believe, also visiting Porvoo last year, too:
And this is how it looks behind:
And front:
And a single picture of Plymouth Duster (sorry about the zigzag, after trying to get rid of it for a couple of hours, I gave up, it vanishes, if you click it bigger):
The following vehicle is DeSoto, model 1961 I think.
Then some Dodge shots. First Dodge Challenger from the first part of the seventies with some First of May decoration:
And Dodge Monaco 440:
And another Dodge Monaco on the streets of Porvoo:
And one Dodge Dart…
![20240501_113731, Dodge Dart, for blog](https://talesfromthebraziersgrotto.wordpress.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/20240501_113731-dodge-dart-for-blog.jpg)
The following set of photos is of 1959 Continental Mark IV Formal Limousine, if I have done my homework rightly. I will start and close the set with almost identical shots, once again, I couldn’t decide…
Here are then some single shots with no details (unless I find it with no big efforts). I show them in the order I took them.

I close this picture story with some shots of a fire engine from 1930. The truck is owned by Porvoo Voluntary Fire Brigade.
Above is some information about the Willys fire engine. For those, who don’t understand Swedish or Finnish: The fire engine is 1930 model and it’s completed as a fire engine on 20 April 1932. Engine capacity 3 litres; engine power 65 hp. The year 1867 is the year of foundation of Porvoo Voluntary Fire Brigade.
I have now shown my best shots. If you wonder, why there is not a single shot of the club’s own vehicle, a tourist bus Sisu S-322D from 1933, the simple answer is that I had photographed that vehicle last year. You can see the photos and read about her history in my last year’s story. Link below.
